Harlequin
Harlequin
Harlequin Tetras are a popular freshwater aquarium fish, known for their striking coloration and active behavior. These tetras are native to Southeast Asia, where they inhabit slow-moving streams and forested rivers. In the aquarium, they are relatively hardy and can adapt to a range of water conditions.
Harlequin Tetras typically grow to a size of around 4-5 centimeters in length and prefer water temperatures between 22-26°C. They are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods, including flakes, pellets, frozen or live foods such as bloodworms or brine shrimp. They can be fed twice a day, with only as much food as they can consume in 2-3 minutes.
Their distinctive coloration features a metallic, iridescent blue-green body with a bright red stripe running from the middle of the body to the base of the tail. This coloration is more pronounced in males than in females, and both sexes have a black triangular marking at the base of the tail. They are a peaceful species that can be kept in groups of 6 or more, and are compatible with other peaceful community fish such as other tetras, rasboras, and dwarf gouramis.
